Vista Clara is seeking a full-time Electrical Engineer with 0-2 years of experience in system-level electronics modeling, design, and testing. Applicants with more significant level of experience are welcome to apply.

The Electrical Engineer will work closely with both the Research & Development (R&D) and Manufacturing teams at Vista Clara Inc.. This is an opportunity for an early career and motivated engineer to join a dynamic, high-tech company, performing innovative design and development to advance nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technologies for groundwater investigation in variety of earth sciences and industries.

The Electrical Engineer will work from Vista Clara’s office in Mukilteo, WA.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
  • Hands-on experience with circuit design (schematic capture) and basic PCB layout.
  • Basic experience with programming in one or more languages to run equipment tests (C#, C++, C, Matlab, Python, Java, LabView/TestStand, etc.)
  • Hands-on electronics prototyping experience, including soldering and board test.
  • Basic understanding of analog and digital circuitry and ability to read schematics.
  • Able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and make independent decisions that promote/advance the company goals and objectives
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation, test plans, work instructions, and manuals.
  • Proficient in operation instrumentation for testing hardware, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, hi-pot testers, multimeters, etc.
  • Enthusiasm for taking on multiple roles and working across disciplines with a small team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Undertake some domestic and international travel.
  • Possess US citizenship or legal authorization to work in the US and the ability to pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Skill Set:
  • B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in the developing and testing of analog electronics from the board level to the system level.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Experience developing and implementing the best practices and industry standards for electrical circuit design.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability.
  • Extensive experience testing and troubleshooting electrical systems
  • Experience in magnetic resonance, ultrasound, seismic, or active acoustic measurement systems are relevant.
  • Experience in low-frequency RF electronics, digital control and communication electronics, high voltage power supplies, and IGBT modules.
  • Interest in environmental geoscience and groundwater hydrology.
  • Able to lift equipment up to 50 pounds.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
This junior team member will be primarily a part of Vista Clara’s Manufacturing team working on assembly and calibration of new products and work under the supervision of the lead electrical engineer and chief scientist on the team. Over time, this junior team member will become more involved in R&D projects focusing on hardware development of novel analog electronics under multiple R&D programs and transitioning novel NMR-based geophysical sensors and instruments from the R&D prototype stage to commercial manufacturing. These systems incorporate low-frequency RF electronics (operating from 1kHz – 1MHz), high-power transmitters, low-noise receivers, and precise digital control/communication electronics. The designed systems are subjected to rugged field use and must be designed for vibration, shock, temperature, and EMI stress.

$35.00 - $37.00 per hour, depending on experience.
